Today we are sharing with you one of the most authentic, soulful and purpose filled coaches we have been fortunate enough to meet, here at The Daily Guru.
Connie Chapman is a passion fuelled life coach, helping others create a life filled with unbridled freedom, limitless possibilities, and true, authentic happiness. She is not only helping others achieve this vision, but she too follows this path, often sharing her own real life experiences and the practises and tools she is using to move through areas of discomfort, surrendering to the unknown and moving forward in to a pure and potent space of possibility.
We were thrilled to sit down with Connie and learn more about how her journey into Life Coaching all began and who has been her greatest inspiration!
That I get to live an incredible lifestyle with freedom, flexibility, and lots of beach time, while also spending every day immersed in work that inspires, excites and enlivens me.
My life was totally transformed when I began practising my own inner work, receiving coaching and meditating. It took me from struggling with fear, anxiety and self-loathing into a deeply empowered and loving space within myself. The transformation I went through was so huge for me that I knew I had to share everything I had learnt and experienced with others.
When I very first left my day job to launch my business I had $1000 in my savings account, no business training, and a handful of clients. So many people questioned what I as doing, but there was something deep within me telling me it was right. The first few months were incredibly scary, stressful and challenging, but to this day I still see it as the best decision I have ever made.
That to be a life coach, you have to have a perfect life. In fact, I still think a lot of people perceive this industry that way. But I see it differently. The journey of being a coach requires you to always be growing, learning, evolving and showing up for your own work. My life is not free of challenge, but I have the tools to move beyond it in an empowered way and that is what makes an authentic coach. Ultimately coaching is about improving the quality of our inner world – our self talk, our mindset, our beliefs and how loving we are towards ourselves – and truly has nothing to do with having everything together on the outside. I think life coaches these days are being called to be really real and authentic, rather than painting a picture of perfection.
My mother. When I was growing up my mum was a bit of a hippie and from a young age I was taken to alternative healing practitioners, health food stores and new-age bookstores. My mother had a giant bookcase of self-help books and when I was 19 years old, I was sitting in the backyard crying after having a fight with a boyfriend and she simply walked out and placed one of her books next to me and said “This might help”. I read the book from cover to cover and then went on to devour every other book she had. She was the person that first awakened me to these teachings and if it wasn’t for her I may never be doing the work that I am today.
When I was 18 everything was about what other people thought of me, and I thought I had to look a certain way and act a certain way in order for people to love me. So, I would want her to know that you will never find peace within yourself if you are always seeking things externally. So, instead get to work on loving yourself. See everything that is magnificent about you, uncover your unique gifts and talents and become so accepting of who you are so that it does not matter what other people think.
My greatest achievement has been…
I feel really proud of how far I have come in my business, in my self as a woman and also in my spiritual connection. Right now I am the happiest I have ever been, I have an incredible connection with my spirituality and intuition, I am running a beautiful coaching business and I have an amazing lifestyle with a home right by the beach. These used to simply be wishes that I wrote about in my journal and now they are my reality. That is a huge achievement for me.
My own self-doubt. When I was 20 years old I came to the realisation that I wanted to be a life coach, but at that time the industry was really small in Australia and there were very few training opportunities, plus I had zero belief in myself and my ability to do it. It took me another 9 years before I found the courage to complete my training. I had to work through huge amounts of fear, low self-esteem and unworthiness to be able to step into this dream. My ability to grow into a confident, empowered and love-driven woman (and coach) has truly been the most rewarding part of the journey.
Some people think that going to war as the only answer
Getting my feet in the sand and my head in the ocean
Never fully expressing the potential that I know lies within me
Green smoothies. I crave them if I go a few days without one
A pet! I love animals but unfortunately my apartment is too small for one now
Love heals everything
To instantly lift all of the limitations of the human mind and ego so we could all live freely as our limitless selves
Marianne Williamson, Eckart Tolle, Louise Hay, Elena Brower. I would just love to be immersed in all of their beautiful perspectives on life.
